The Miu Miu tweed tailoring that is redefining this British and Irish heritage fabric and the bouclé clothing that changed street style.

Miu Miu Tweed Bouclé Clothing

Tweed is, an often homespun, twill weave created in a diagonal pattern. Its origins can be traced back to Scottish and Irish country clothing.

Scotland is where Coco Chanel originally sourced and re-purposed fabric for women's wear and high fashion. Now, Miuccia Prada and Miu Miu are redefining it for a new generation.

The fashion designer founded this brand in 1993 and it was titled after her family nickname. It is a part of Prada and based in Milan, Italy.

The fashion weeks AW15 saw their array of tweed bouclé clothing that captured the imaginations of fashionistas everywhere. Street style inspiration was awash with bold, chunky, must-have Miu Miu clothing.

It was an instant classic seen all the way through to the following spring. The brand combined their youth-centric image with a heritage fabric for undeniable mass appeal.

The success of this tact has seen houndstooth become a winter fashion trend with staying power. Plus, the dress-up box look of vintage playfulness has expanded beyond their runway.

The Miu Miu fashion show AW16 saw this taken a step further with tight tweed and riding clothes galloping onto the catwalk. The looks were completed by Miuccia Prada's famed use of power-clashing and the addition of this season's denim.

All eyes are on how Miu Miu will reinvent tired materials to make whimsical, wearable, it-pieces for another season. Until then, here's some of the ways they have been worn over the past year.

Bouclé Coat Alterations

This beautiful Miu Miu bouclé coat certainly brightened up our studio. It also proves that winter fashion doesn't have to be dull.

We took in the side seams on this winter coat and then it was ready to be worn in style.

Bouclé Skirt Alterations

This red, white and black Miu Miu bouclé skirt was a head-turner and favourite of the Instafamous. We fixed a pull and now it's good to get snapped.
