The fashion history of pink Dior and the clothing alterations happening in our studio. See the beautiful fashion details that go into Dior pink.
Pink Dior History
Fashion designer, Christian Dior founded his eponymous fashion house on 8 December 1946. His first line was shown on 12 February 1947 and named Corolle or circlet of flower petals.
Harper's Bazaar editor-in-chief, Carmel Snow then famously coined the term the New Look to describe the collection. Yet, it's this focus on floral shapes that defined the brand.
Dior became known for their feminine silhouettes and re-established Paris as a fashion capital after World War II. This heritage continues in the brand as seen on the iconic Oscars dress worn by Jennifer Lawrence.
Other fashion designers at the helm of the brand have included Yves Saint Laurent and more recently Raf Simons. Now for the first time in their history a woman will take over.
Maria Grazia Chiuri is the former co-creative director of Valentino and is now artistic director of Dior. We look forward to seeing the next phase of the house.
At London Fitting Rooms we specialise in couture alterations and work with a variety of materials. Our tailors are well-versed in leather work, feathers and fur alike.
We also celebrate contemporary elegance with staying power and Dior pink is one such trend we see time and time again. Here's some of the clothing alterations where we've worked with these wonderful materials.
Dior Wool Dress
This Dior wool dress came into our studio to have the side-back seams taken in. It also needed the excess removed from the right-back shoulders. We then tapered the sleeves and finished as original.
Dior Pink Wool Coat
The pining on this Dior wool coat shows the amount we will shorten the sleeves. They will be reduced from the cuff. The sleeves will also be finished as original with a bagged out finish.
Pink Dior Dress
This exquisite pleated pink dress in our studio to be dry cleaned. The light fabric and colour are perfect for the warmer months.
