We've already started seeing the occasional summer floral dress in our studio. Before the season is in full swing get some fashion inspiration with our dress alterations.
Summer Floral Dress Alterations
Floral dresses aren't just for the warmer months as our tailoring work has proved. The colour, tones and fabrics, however, are subject to change.
A summer floral dress may be nothing new but the skill and details are oh-so now. The 2015 fashion weeks proved there are many takes on this feminine garment and how to wear it.
Whether you're heading to sunnier climbs or enjoying the changable British weather there's a floral dress for you. See the dress alterations (and other floral clothing) we've worked with so far this year.
Alexander McQueen Dress
A characteristic of Alexander McQueen is its unbound ability to take inspiration from flowers. It has become a time-honoured spectacle at each of their fashion shows.
This fine knit dress they created is no different. We also used our magic touch to lift the shoulders to get the perfect fit.
Needle & Thread Dress
Floral dresses can also be black as this Needle & Thread dress proves. The detail comes in the hand-beaded design. Whereas, the florals make this a sequin dress.
To keep the look intact we shortened the sleeves from the shoulder. This keeps our work invisible and the beadwork beautiful.
Dolce and Gabbana Jacket
Likewise our tailor, Ela, shortened the sleeves on this Dolce and Gabbana jacket without cutting any of the embroidery.
Dolce and Gabbana Dress
This Dolce and Gabbana dress was first seen in our studio when we created a false hem. It was then that the embellished lace detailing caught our eye.
Later, another arrived with its sister dress. It's the pattern of flowers and overlayed floral embroidery, however, that add depth to this design.
Alexander McQueen Dress
This A-line silk dress from Alexander McQueen has a wonderful folded funnel neck collar. It's also 100% silk but has two beautiful textures.
We love the famous orchid flower embroidered on this Fendi dress. We also added a black front lining for more modesty on the front slit.
Again, we shortened the sleeves of this Dior jacket from the shoulder to keep the beaded detail on the cuffs as original.
Oscar de la Renta Dress
This full-length silk Oscar de la Renta dress is pleated causing the flowers to create a whole new pattern on top. We shortened the hem and secured the pleat ends from the hips. It's now ready for summer soirees.
We took in, shortened and a repaired tear on this Marchessa dress. The delicate tulle net can be fragile. The floral embroidery on this lace dress, however, remains exquisite.
Michael Kors Jumpsuit
The new season isn't just about summer floral dresses. The top SS15 fashion trend is bringing back the 70s which sees plenty of jumpsuits on offer.
Our tailor took in the side seams of this Michael Kors silk jumpsuit. The shading on these flowers is also darling.
Vivienne Westwood Dress
Our fitter Elise is applying organza flowers to the front of this Vivienne Westwood dress. Alongside patterns and prints, appliqués are a great way to wear florals.
Dior Skirt and Top
This Dior top and embroidered skirt has been a celeb favourite since it hit the catwalk during the fashion weeks SS15. We took in the waist and photographed it from every angle.
This quilted Dior dress, on the other hand, has to be one of the cutest items in our studio this month. We lifted the shoulders and took in the sides. Plus, the added touch of embroidery gives accents of colour.
Temperley London Wedding Dress
We've been doing bridal alterations on this Temperley London floral wedding dress. We lifted the shoulders to make the front top flatter. Not to mention these cute cap sleeves and floral appliqués.
The fine floral design on these Dior overalls even adorns the buttons. It's all about the details.
Alice + Olivia Skirt
The print on this Alice + Olivia skirt is a joyful work of art.
Michael Kors Trousers
These Michael Kors trousers are under our sewing machine to be shortened. The floral print is also getting us in the mood for summer.
