Tulle Dress Alterations

The tulle dress alterations we've been working on to give evening gowns the best fit this season. Get plenty of formalwear inspiration from our studio.

Tulle Dress Alterations

Tulle fabric is commonly used for formal outfits including wedding gowns. It is named after a city in France known for its lace and silk where the netting technique originated.

It came to be used in ballet costumes but has since become popularised for eveningwear. The overt femininity of tulle fabric and the light layers continue to see its reinvention time and time again.

We see it in our studio for couture alterations. Here's the tulle dress alterations that have been going on in our studio.

Marchesa Beaded Gown

Tulle fabric is often used to add volume to dresses like this Marchesa beaded gown. When shortening a dress the netting is given a raw edge finish.

This is a common tulle dress alteration as we have seen with the likes of the (below) five-layer Jovani gown. Watch our tailor carefully and acurately cutting the hem.

Dior Tulle Gown

Our team is discussing the alterations on this Dior bustier gown. We are taking in this dress from the waist.

We also cannot get enough of the latest fashion line by Maria Grazia Chiuri. It has brought a beautiful parade of tulle fabric through our doors including this tulle skirt.

Dennis Basso Tulle Gown

Our tailor, Tatjana is shortening the hem of this Cinderella style Dennis Basso beaded and feathered gown.

Again, finishing the hem is all about accuracy and a steady hand which our team is adept at. Now this tulle dress is ready for the ball.

Jovani Evening Gown

This beautiful burgundy evening dress in our studio is from Jovani. The gown's hem is wide and layered.

The pinning of each layer has to be checked before we start the job. This doesn't allow any room for error in achieving the perfect hem line.

Baby Dior Tulle Dress

Tulle dresses aren't just for grown-ups with this adorable Baby Dior party dress. The sequins and tulle make it another outfit fit for a princess.
